Issue The sound in a Macromedia Flash movie may
stutter or sound choppy, slow down, or drop out
completely. This problem is not common, and has
the following specific symptoms:
 |
Can occur on any Windows platform, but in
almost every case only occurs on Windows
2000 |
 |
Most likely to occur with CD-ROM
content |
 |
May affect the Macromedia Flash Player
ActiveX control, Macromedia Flash Player plugin,
or standalone players, but most reports involve
the standalone player |
 |
May affect Macromedia Flash Player 5 and
Macromedia Flash Player 6 (releases 21 -
50) |
 |
Most experience this issue as a "stutter"
directly after beginning to play a sound. If the
stuttering sound is allowed to continue playing,
it continues sounding choppy and may slow to a
crawl and stop. Loading another sound may cause
all audio to stop. |
 |
This seems most likely to occur with
content that rapidly or repeatedly loads and
unloads a series of movies containing audio. For
example, audio in SWFs you click through in
slide-show style may begin to stutter directly
after loading a slide. |
 |
The problem does not usually occur at the
same point in any project. The issue appears
randomly and can sometimes be difficult to
reproduce. |
Reason The issue is related to a problem with
communication between the sound card, Windows, and
versions of Macromedia Flash Player 6 prior to
release 65.
Solution Update Macromedia Flash Player to
Macromedia Flash Player 6, release 65 or
later.
